Quinta do Crasto, Vinho Rose, Douro DOC, Portugal, 2019

A really delicious Portuguese rosé made from 85% Touriga Nacional and 15% Tinta Roriz.

The former is arguably Portugal’s premier red varietal and the latter is their sibling of Tempranillo, famous in Rioja of course. TN is known for its superb aromatic nature and, when blended with the elegance and texture of TR, we have a gorgeous summer’s day wine that should keep you thoroughly refreshed. Grown at around 400m above sea level and on schist soil we find a wonderful minerality coming through behind the summer fruits.

Again, lovely and aromatic. Lovely salmon pink colour. Strawberry, raspberry and violet (one of Nick’s favourite tasting notes). Hint of watermelon.

Rich and fruity on the palate but the acidity brings a real freshness to proceedings. Loads of red berry fruit and that lick of minerality. Mmm, delicious.
