A wonderful collection of 2 x each of three delicious foodie red wines. Having guests over? Or have you prepped a big dinner for the family which needs some serious liquid company? Then this collection is for you.
Chateau Camarsac, Bordeaux Superieur, Vielles Vignes, 2016 (x 2 bottles) - beautiful with our roast beef
Notes: Warm and spicy red with hints of cinnamon, clove, chocolate and with juicy black fruits on the finish.
90/100 - Nice, ripe black fruit, a hint of chocolate and a pleasant balance of ripeness and supple tannins give this plenty of appeal. The firm finish could do with some time to mellow. Drink or hold. James Suckling - JamesSuckling.com, February 2019.
Fontanafredda, Briccotondo, Barbera, Piedmont DOC, Italy, 2018 (x 2 bottles) - superb with our mushroom wellington
Notes: Very aromatic, with crunchy red fruit, cherry, liquorice and a hint of earthiness.
In 1858, king Vittorio Emanuele gave the Fontanafredda estate to his mistress. not a bad present. We'd happily accept. Seductive, refreshing and medium-bodied and true to Italian form, brilliant with food. Wine Enthusiast - 88 Points.
MacMurray, Pinot Noir, Central Coast, USA, 2016 (x 2 bottles) - perfection with our chicken roast
Notes: Bags of ripe cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, vanilla and toasty oak.
Award-winning winery with vineyards in the Sonoma Valley as well as Central Coast which is what we have here. Classic North American style Pinot Noir with flavours jumping out of the glass. And whilst it is a very elegant style, it still packs a punch in typical USA fashion. 85 Points - Robert Parker.
Three outstanding red wines. Superb with a large array of dishes. Power, body, refinement and delicate finesse.
