The sommelier’s favourite… Gruner Veltliner. Long a go-to variety for interesting food and wine matching due to its unique qualities. It delivers flavours such as green pepper (capsicum), smokiness and even rubber. Now run by the family’s 8th generation, this winery was formed in 1786 and they produce bottles from vines that are often over 100 years old which give their wines incredible depth of flavour and intensity. Just don’t ask us to pronounce it. Please.
