Funny ol’ name for a lovely variety “gros” but do not be put off. This is a delicious grape from an often completely overlooked part of the French wine map. The grape itself, when bottled as a stand alone variety has very high acidity, and brings apricot, quince and minerality to the party. Here, it is blended with Sauvignon Blanc to create a thoroughly intense yet fruity wine that has bags of bang for buck leaping out of the glass. The winery has been going since 1978 and is famed for their 3am harvests, to retain as much natural freshness as physically possible.
