Domaine de la Janasse, Terre de Buissiere, Principaute D’Orange, Rhône Valley, France, 2017

£13.75

This wine blew our socks off the first time we got round to having a taste. It does not mess around. A blend comprised mostly, and somewhat surprisingly, of Merlot, with a dollop of Syrah and seasoned with Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. We feel this wine shows how the Rhone Valley are arguably the best in the Biz at the art of blending. Sourced from the single vineyard ‘Bussiere’ which is a mix of galet stones, sands and clay and the vines yield a respectably low 45hl/ha and are hand harvested. Aged in 30% new barriques for 12 months. Brilliant with our roast leg of lamb, 16oz ribeye steak or perhaps even our mushroom wellington. Scrummy.
