Located in the middle of the prime wine making real-estate that is the Entre-Deux-Mers region, Chateau Sainte-Marie has access to some fabulous terroir (we will explain a little bit about the meaning of Terroir). Made from old vines which give this wine fantastic complexity and depth of flavour. Full of classic French Sauvignon Blanc character but not as intense as their Kiwi cousins. Nick and George often discuss which French region produces our favourite Sauvignon – Loire? Or Bordeaux? But what we always agree on is that the French style is our No.1 (nothing against other countries of course).
Pink Grapefruit. Gooseberry.Tomato leaf. Lovely aromatics. Green apple and pear.
Weighty and textured. Pure, zesty flavours. The 6 months of lees aging really gives this wine depth on the palate.
Pork and poultry, plain grilled fish, classic fish & chops, all manner of posh fish dishes like smoked eel and trout and then, of course, fresh cheeses.
