Cenatiempo,Vini Ischia DOC, Per E Palummo, Campania, Italy, 2018

One of the things we love most about these tastings is sampling rare wines from rare varieties and here is no exception. Per E Palummo is quite a difficult grape to cultivate but it thrives on the volcanic island of Ischia which is just off the coast of Naples and near Capri.Volcanic, free-draining soil is arguably a vines favourite terroir (very much depends on the vine / region but as a general rule, volcanic is good) and it really shows here. Clean, fruity and linear with a lovely hint of spice to keep things interesting.

Cherry. Bramble. Bags of ripe red fruits. Strawberry and berries.Violet. Pepper spice.

All of the above. Dry, clean, refreshing and a hint of salinity with a medium-body and crisp finish.
